Happy Valentines Day

By chance we wandered across love rock on Valentines day.

The Western Arthurs

The Mr. and I did a 6 day hike in South Western Tasmania. It was amazingly beautiful landscape. Unfortunately we did not get the best weather, which from what we've heard is the norm for the area.  It was muddy, wet, snowy and well worth the torture.

Cooking up some dinner in the fairy forest.

MUDDY!

A well deserved rest.

Where are we going tomorrow?

We just have to hike over those mountains to get to our chocolate stash is in the van.

Christmas on the Tasman

This post is a little late, 2 months late, but here it is.  We spent Christmas in Tasmania, on the Tasman Peninsula.  Part of our group was on a climbing mission and the rest of us were on a Christmas feasting mission.

The Moai, my long exposure version.

This is the lovely Cape Raoul Retreat, where we spent Christmas.

Georgian Bay

This is the Bunkie, where I stayed.

Here are some pictures from a recent trip out to Ontario, Georgian Bay to be specific.  It was my first time visiting GB and I loved it!

Balm Making Part 1

Time to put my herbalist education to use.
I am making Balm of Gilead, which is made by soaking balsam poplar buds in oil for a couple months then adding bees wax to make a thick balm.
I have wanted to make Balm of Gilead for years, but I never seemed to get around to picking the buds in time.  This year I was on the ball and spent a lovely day picking buds in the mountains with my guy.

It had snowed the night before.

If only I could post smells, they have such a lovely fragrance.

Twin Sitting

I took care of the twins one day this past week so that my lovely friends Rob and Lindsay could get out skiing together.  The boys and I had a pretty good day, there was laughter, crying, playing, eating, napping and most of all there were TRUCKS.

Waiting for Green

The Garden Cat

Spring is so slow to come in the Mountains, I've been looking at summer photos, longing for green grass and leaves.
